Iwamatsu Matsumoto Family
THE IWAMATSU MATSUMOTO FAMILY
Iwamatsu Matsumoto was born on December 25, 1876. He immigrated to the USA in 1906 from Watari town, Tottori Prefecture, Japan. He registered for the draft during WWI and stated that he was a farmer on Palos Verdes Road in Redondo Beach. His mailing address was a post office box in Redondo Beach. He stated his wife lived in his hometown in Japan.
The 1920 Federal Census reported Iwamatsu living in an apartment hotel in Little Tokyo on Jackson Street where many other immigrants from Tottori Prefecture stayed. Among his fellow lodgers was Haruye Onishi who later farmed in Palos Verdes.
Haru Matsumoto arrived in San Pedro in January 1924. She was born in 1878 in Watari town OF Tottori Prefecture. Her destination was Redondo Beach, P.O. Box 35.
The Matsumoto family was not reported in Palos Verdes in the 1930 Federal Census.
